Author Guidelines
Overview
Majalah Anestesia dan Critical Care (MACC) applies a double-blind peer review process. The journal publishes scientific articles in the fields of anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, intensive and critical care, and pain management. All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal. Submissions are intended solely for scientific and academic purposes. Authors are required to comply with the following guidelines to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality of publication.
Manuscript Types
MACC accepts the following types of manuscripts: Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Case Reports, Evidence-Based Case Reports (EBCR), Editorials. Each manuscript type must follow the specific structure described below.
General Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be prepared using the following format:
- Paper size: A4, Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides, Font: Times New Roman, 12-point, Line spacing: 1.15
- The title must be written in both Indonesian and English and should be concise and informative, should not exceed 50 characters
- Author names must be written without academic titles and must include institutional affiliation and email address for each author.
- A cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of MACC must be submitted together with the manuscript.
- Authors must declare that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.
Abstract and Keywords
- All manuscripts must include abstracts written in both Indonesian and English. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abbreviations should be minimized. Any abbreviation used in the abstract must be written in full at first mention and may be repeated in abbreviated form thereafter.
Abstract Structure

- Case Reports and Evidence-Based Case Reports (EBCR). The abstract must be structured and include: , Background, Case Presentation, Conclusions
- Review Articles. The abstract must be structured and include: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion
Keywords
- Authors must provide 3 to 5 keywords representing the main content of the article. Keywords should preferably follow Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terminology where applicable.

Original Research Articles
- Manuscripts must include: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References.
- The Methods section must clearly describe study design, participants, interventions (if any), outcome measures, and statistical analysis.

- Manuscripts must include: Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, Conclusion, References.
- Patient confidentiality must be strictly maintained. Identifiable patient information must not be disclosed. Images containing identifiable features (such as facial images) must be appropriately masked.

Review Articles
- Manuscripts must include: Introduction, Methods (if applicable, especially for systematic or narrative reviews), Discussion, Conclusion, References.
- Review articles should provide a clear description of literature sources and selection criteria when applicable.

Ethical Considerations
Research involving human participants, human data, human tissue, or animals must include a clear statement of ethical approval. Authors must state:
- The name of the ethics committee or institutional review board that approved the study
- The approval number
Research involving human participants must confirm that informed consent was obtained from the participants or their legal guardians. For clinical trials, authors must provide the trial registration number and the name of the registry. The journal reserves the right to request additional documentation related to ethical approval if necessary.
Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure
All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the work.
Sources of funding, sponsorship, or financial support must be clearly stated in the manuscript. If there are no conflicts of interest, authors must explicitly state that no conflict of interest exists.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to the peer review process.
Manuscripts with significant similarity or evidence of plagiarism will be rejected or returned to the authors for clarification or revision.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the text.
Each table and figure must have a clear and concise title. Explanatory notes should be placed below the table or figure, not within the main text.
Tables should be editable (not in image format). Vertical lines should be avoided.
Figures, photographs, and images must be submitted in high resolution. If previously published material is used, authors must obtain written permission from the copyright holder.
Patient confidentiality must be maintained in all images. Identifiable information must be removed or masked appropriately.
References
MACC uses the Vancouver citation style.
References must be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the text and indicated using superscript Arabic numerals.
Authors are required to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero to ensure consistency in citation and bibliography formatting.
Where available, Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) should be included in the reference list.
Authors are encouraged to cite recent and relevant literature, particularly from peer-reviewed journals.

Authors retain the copyright of their work and grant Majalah Anestesia & Critical Care (MACC) the right of first publication and disseminate the article. All articles published in MACC are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), which permits non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited and any derivative works are shared under the same license.
The Editors of MACC make every effort to ensure that no misleading data, opinions, or statements are published. The contents of the articles and advertisements published in Majalah Anestesia & Critical Care (MACC) are the sole responsibility of the respective authors and advertisers.
